Rahul Gandhi tries his hands at making Keventers milkshake, says ‘trying to make investment decision’

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Thursday posted a video on social media of his visit to a Keventers outlet and his interaction with the company’s founders. When asked where would he like to invest, Gandhi said he was “looking at Keventers…trying to make an investment decision”.

In the 9.16-minute video, Gandhi was asked by an employee if he would like to see the making process of the company’s famous milkshakes and cold coffee. To this, Gandhi replied that he would instead like to make one.

Visuals showed the politician putting on gloves and emptying scoopfuls of ice cream in a blender.

Later, talking to the company’s co-founders Aman Arora and Agastya Dalmia, he said India had two kinds of businesses — The “monopoly, political businesses”. The others he said are genuine businesses operating amid an “environment of red tape”.

The Opposition leader said he wanted to know the state of operations of the latter kind of firms.

Gandhi then asked the co-founders about their current scale, competition, growth strategy.

‘No competition, but creating market’

“Play-fair businesses like Keventers have driven our economic growth for generations. We must do more to support them,” Gandhi wrote on social media platform X along with his video.

The company currently has 200 stores in 65 cities and said it wants to expand to around 500 in four to five years.

The Gandhi family scion also interacted with the customers present at a store in the Patel Nagar area of New Delhi and obliged requests for selfies.

When the Congress leader wanted to know about the competitors of Keventers, the young founders replied that they are trying to create a market. “The sweet spot in Indian flavoured milk market is still around Rs 50-70. There is no one at around Rs 100 (the price at which Keventers products retail).”
